Scholarships for the German-Arab Master?s Course International Education Management (INEMA), University of Education Ludwigsburg/ Helwan University Cairo

This master?s course is designed with an interdisciplinary and integrative approach that is aimed at conveying general capabilities and knowledge in education management. The international dimension of the educational sector (i.e. national and international systems and theories of education) is dealt with together with socio-cultural aspects. The sector-comprehensive education is made possible by in-depth offers for single sub-sectors (i.e. school education, university and research, professional further training). In content and methodology, this programme offers young experts of the education sector a practice and demand oriented continued training opportunity, attaching special emphasis on the acquisition of inter-cultural communicative capabilities. The participants acquire such capabilities in inter-cultural communication and management that enable the graduates to join international development or scientific-technological co-operation projects. English is the language of instruction. Upon successful completion of the course master?s degrees of both participating universities are awarded. Because of the special target group and the practice connection the course is offered parallel to the job and in blended learning format.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to participants from the following countries: Germany, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen.

Target group

The target group of this postgraduate continued training opportunity are?young professionals active in education-related fields, with some practical work experience (2 years if possible).

What is funded?

German scholarship holders :

The DAAD awards scholarships for the attendance phases abroad (at present ? 800). During the attendance phases in Germany no scholarship can be awarded! The scholarship includes health insurance cover during the attendance phases abroad. ? Furthermore, the DAAD pays a subsidy towards the travel expenses (? 425 at present).

Arab scholarship holders:

The DAAD awards scholarships for attendance phases in Egypt (at present ? 600 for Egyptian, ? 700 for non-Egyptian participants) and in Germany (at present ? 700). The scholarship includes health insurance cover during the attendance phases. Furthermore, the DAAD pays a subsidy towards travel expenses which differ according to the country of origin.

? ????????hand-signed?letter of motivation (with reference to current occupation) with precise description of the academic/professional and personal reasons for wishing to participate in this programme;

? ??????? academic letter/s of recommendation from your university; the letter must have a signature and office stamp and must be of recent date;

? ??????? professional letter/s of recommendation from your employer; the letter must have a signature and office stamp and must be of recent date;

? ??????? confirmation of employment from the employer in your home country, and if possible, a guarantee of re-employment upon returning home;

? ??????? proof of language abilities: English ? TOEFL or IELTS (Note: Institutional TOEFL will not be accepted); German or Arabic ? if available (costs will not be covered by the DAAD);

? ??????? certified copies of awarded academic degrees

? ??????? certified copies of academic transcripts

? ??????? certified copy of School Leaving Certificate

The application has to be in English. Please avoid using staples, sheet holders and plastic folders in your application.

Applications that are not complete will be excluded from the selection procedure.

Selection

A selection committee consisting of professors of the course and representatives of the DAAD will nominate the candidates for a scholarship.

Aside from the study achievements and the academic quality of the applicant, the most important selection criterion will be a convincing presentation of his/her professional and personal motivation for participating in this programme, including the expected benefits after returning to the home country and/or the expected contribution towards German-Arab cooperation.

The bachelor?s degree should not be more than 6 years old. Arab candidates who have already been in Germany for more than 12 months at the time they apply cannot be considered for a scholarship.

Deadline for applications

The complete application must be submitted by the?31st?of March 2012?at the University of Education Ludwigsburg.
